Highsun Express is an innovative and progressive family owned wholesale nursery located in South East Queensland, Australia. The Company produces a comprehensive range of quality young starter plants that are distributed throughout the Australian market daily. As the pioneer of the plug industry in Australia, Highsun now is one of the country’s leading suppliers of seed and vegetative raised plugs. Automated production facilities and manufacturing systems create an ideal environment for the production of quality plants available for shipping year around. Teamwork and modern technology is important to Highsun with environmentally controlled greenhouses, consolidation patching machine, rolling benches, bar code tracking technology, and customized production software.

The production process of young plants starts by seeding in temperature controlled seed rooms through controlled germination chambers and green houses and then finished under sunny Queensland daylight to ensure minimal transplant stress. Two production sites are in operation, one located in Brisbane, and one in the cooler climate of Toowoomba to cater for the individual needs of each crop.

Traditionally the company has procured seed and vegetative material from breeders from around the world. The products are grown to customer contract requirements under the brand names of “Highsun Express” and “Natural Selections”. Recently the Company also launched a new innovative propagation system called “PaperTec”, where bio-degradable paper plugs are produced, filled with media made to grower specifications.

Pine Valley

Pine Valley is the largest bouquet producer in Queensland. They have been operating as a bouquet maker for 25 years and it is a family
owned business with Brad Dodwell as General Manger.

It operates from a 2000 m2 purpose built "cool" facility at Brendale in
Brisbane. There is a branch in Townsville servicing North Queensland. It employees over 60 staff.

Two years ago it was Woolworths National Supplier of the year for
"Produce".

Propagation Australia is a Queensland owned and operated specialist propagator and supplier of quality young plants for the cut flower and nursery industries.

We are a fully-licensed importer of high health plant material sourced directly from overseas breeders. We have a wide selection of varieties to suit Australian growing conditions. Australia-wide delivery is available.

We operate in modern facilities utilising the latest available technology.

Luala Holdings

Luala Holdings Pty Ltd is a commercial flower farm located on the
Sunshine Coast Hinterland at Maleny. It also owned by our family in conjunction with our Manager, Christine Mumford.

Luala grows exclusively for Pine Valley. Because of the climatic conditions Luala produces mainly bulb flowers. In winter these are: Asiatic Lilies, Oriental Lilies, Iris. New bulbs are imported each season from Holland and treated and stored in 400m2 of freezer/cool storage rooms.

The other major crop in spring/summer is spray carnations Chrysanthemums are produced for Mothers Day. Pink Ice protea is another major summer crop.

This spring there will new Highsun crops of Stocks, Lisianthus, Snap
dragons and other experimental lines. Most production is in fully automated greenhouses covering 15,000m2.

Luala is continuing to increase it production each season to meet the
demands of Pine Valley. It employees 8 fulltime staff.
